Autumn Winter 2018 Part T w o

So this weather seems to be keeping us on our toes, freezing in the morning and high summer by mid day, oh what to wear, this is why the transition wardrobe is key for these temperamental days.....

We are progressing with the build, we now have doors and skylights, so the colder evenings are proving to be difficult with plug in heaters, but hallelujah, we now have hot water and no more traipsing to friends houses or to the gym for showers, (Thanks to those that helped out) windows are our next challenge after being let down by our supplier...........

I feel like I have my mojo back this week after an epic development on the build , I have started shopping the check trend to transition me in to Winter 18, I have invested in the marks and Spencer check jacket, a colourful hoody to wear with and even started to search the internet for winter boots, kind of delaying this, as much as I am loving the western boot trend I feel that this will pass relatively quickly, I am loving the novelty boot trend, white, off white, colours, anything goes it seems, as well as the novelty leopard or snakeskin that seems to be tempting me...... oooooh the choices, the high street have excelled themselves

I love a novelty boot, studs, colour, metallics always add detail to any outfit, but white, or off white seems to be a great mid heel addition to the wardrobe this season, kitten or block heel, A wooden stack heel also adds a great point of detail.

Top left, M&S, DUNE, OFFICE, Gold Mint Velvet main picture, Massimo Dutti coming soon, these are sure to be a sell out,

A N I M A L  V’s  S N A K E S K I N

Wether you are in need of a low heel, or a kitten heel, this season there are tonnes of choices, it is all about the boot it seems. Snakeskin v’s leopard??? I love both but don’t need both............

I remember a pair of boots I had from Office whilst I was at uni, I practically lived in them, in fact I bought them in every colour back then, my love of shoes hasn’t changed......   so many years later it evolves again, woooohoooooo, Office again have a great selection of snakeskin boots, even the western boot trend in snakeskin, they are killing it, well done Office.

If you prefer something a little simpler and more day to day, again there are plenty of choices this season, the ankle boot is key.

AW 18 Transition Part O N E

We had such a great summer didn’t we? & suddenly the evenings are drawing in, the dampness is in the air and you can smell that Autumn is just around the corner! I love Autumn it’s my favourite season, I am desperate to get out to the shops and stock up on new essentials to tide me over, I have not shopped for some time due to many reasons, summer of renovations (6 months now so far!) and when I say renovation I mean pretty much a house rebuild! We have an old Georgian home and have discovered endless hurdles OMG!!!!

My house is full of dust, it has been pointless buying anything due to no where to store anything and also the constant wave of dust settling on everything!!! Omg no one could have prepared me for the disruption.

I have been living out of suitcases for some time now and with no washer so utilising my existing wardrobe has been essential.

But I’m back, the build is nearing the end, well hopefully

I want to shop, I want to be more experimental  and I want to share with you my finds for the season.

I’m excited for the season ahead not only as I need a lot of new items but also because there is so much pattern and fun to play with

LETS TALK ABOUT CHECKS....... this has been on the radar for some time now, if you didn’t invest in a check jacket / coat last season, now is the time, blazers, trousers, skirts, coats its all about the checks, mixing and matching, experimental in colour,

Massimo Dutti classic check coat, this is timeless and the perfect essential coat (above)

Leopard Autumn Winter

I do love a spot of animal, each season we have an offering of a new animal, so many of these faux fur or printed or jacquard coats filtering through this season, as well as dresses and accessories, we have Dolce & Gabbana & Gucci to thank this season as well as many other designers

Animal is a strong statement, if you have something from previous, get it out of the wardrobe and start to wear it, we must all own something of an animal, coat,  jacket or something leopard I’m sure?

Essential Coats part 2

Other than a crombie masculine coat, it is always essential to have a mid length coat to add to the choices, either in addition or as well, always good to have a Navy choice to go with every day denim.

A mid length, jacket in Navy, with or without gold buttons, I love a gold button as it always adds a feel of luxury and adds a point of difference..

This style comes in and out of fashion but its so easy with jeans, it smartens up any outfit

Top left - Whistles have a mid length wool Pea coat, great quality and fit this season and its a jacket that is built to last and become part of your essential wardrobe. Bottom left from Scotch & Soda

The Essential coats part 1

Each season we tend to buy a new coat, whether it be of a disposable trend (check, colour, fur or novelty) an essential, or we remain with the last seasons purchase, depending on how mild the Autumn Winter weather is, I tend to always go back to my classic Masculine Crombie, in black, grey, camel, navy, I love to have a choice and a variety, These styles work time after time and with most outfits

This season I have purchased the check coat, a novelty, adding to my selection of masculine essential coats as well as a puffa (trend and so very warm)

The mix of essentials are key, here are the selections to save you keep having to buy new coats each season, buy well, buy to last, keep it neutral and use the disposable as a seasonal trend option

The masculine coat - CROMBIE

Whether it be a classic timeless Crombie style, black, navy, camel & grey always an essential every day colour, longer length, knee length, 1 button or 2 button

Black top left, All saints, Camel Zara, Merlot colour Theory (luxe)

Love this colour from Zara, they are a great shape, fit and quality will last for a season or two depending on the colour you choose, this is a seasonal trend colour and great price

Zara oatmeal neutral & grey Joseph essential a timeless colour

Other Stories, black, camel & grey as well as seasonal check available

Sweater Weather

I love Autumn, although I feel cheated from a Summer, I'm still hoping that there is a chance of an Indian Summer, although the chill feels like its here to stay, the evenings are drawing in and the mornings are damp, condensation on the windows, turning the heating on is tempting daily,

Autumn is my favourite season, not only as its my birthday month but also I gets to layer up, wrap up and feel cosy in fun colourful jumpers, so many on offer this season, although a lot are over sized I have scoured the market to find some essential mixes to offer you that cosy feeling, from essential shapes, cashmere and fun novelty throw on sweaters to tide you over the transitional autumn season.

Let the Autumn commence....... who said Autumn has to be neutral?

Top left, I have purchased an array of colour for my Autumn wardrobe, I'm feeling the colour in knitwear, offering something different and a pop of fun.

PINK, RED textured knits from &Other Stories, a great price and lots of fun colours on offer, they seem quite relaxed in fit so I bought in a size Small, I haven't done that for a while....  great with a relaxed jean and trainers for everyday but offering some fun.

Cable knits in cream are set to be a big Autumn trend, wear it big and oversized or neat and tidy, (&Other Stories) Zara have some great options with fringing

Uniqlo offer the best on the high street for price and shapes for Cashmere with v neck, roll neck and round neck, buy bigger in women's for a cooler relaxed fit unless you want a neat fit. As well as H&M & M&S they are offering essential shapes with everyday cols.

Zara have launched an essential cashmere range of knits in neutral colours, more expensive than most....

Uniqlo cashmere also featuring a collaboration with J.W Anderson with some great cables and novelty detailing to set a difference from the average.. all colours and necklines in cashmere

Cashmere grey top, Zara & H&M

Neutral knits, fun and novelty, motif logo sweaters offer something different

Hush always have the logo knit easy to wear and wash very well.

Paris knit from &Other Stories , these are great looks with a midi skirt

Haven't quite found this in store to check the overall size, looks big and sloppy, but have to have...

Zara, also available in brunette and ginger........

It's cold enough to break into sweaters, lets do this......

Zara cashmere in neutral shades layering

Fringed cable such a great sweater Zara the one to have

Top shop cable knit

Jeans and sweaters, the best relaxed jean on the high street Hayden jean Topshop & Lucas jean Top shop

VEJA natural trainers made from Brazilian rainforest material set to be the trainer to have

they take a while to break in but am finally there and love the retro styling of them, available in a selection of cols and variations, even kids and mens.......

Puffer addition

So it's not quite winter yet but I'm still lusting over purchasing a puffer, this season there seems to be an array on offer from long and short, colours and essential as well as metallics and shine options, they are set to be an investment so choose your colour wisely

Here are some of my favourites

Today I'm off to try some on, I know they make you feel big but the trick is to wear with a slim bottom, boots and a seasonal chunky sweater

Mustard puffer jacket I tried on an XS size as they come up big, urban outfitters have all kids of fabrics and colours keep it simple, go for nylon.

White, Black (I'll be getting❤️) red, mustard from urban outfitters from the brand light before dark

black with fur trim collar from river island

blue Asos

red combo with navy Whistles love this very retro

Light before dark in urban outfitters £76  black, red & mustard available

River island £90

urban outfitters shiny navy £99

wear it big and colourful, if I was brave enough I love the red but seasonal colour Balenciaga

Transitional dressing - Smart-ish...

I have been excited about checks for some time now, missing out on last season's Isabel Marant check blazer was devastating, but this Autumn Winter we see an influx of options from designer to high street, Zara & Mango are looking spectacular with tonnes of fashion choices, its hard to shop anywhere else right now .........

Although our local store in Kingston is closed for refurbishment its easier to shop online 😤

Check blazers and coats especially trenches seem to be a strong statement filtering through, great for back to work in the Autumn, a nod to the check trend, monochromes checks and highlights of colour make a point of difference, or simply dress more casual with a strong T.

Top left inspiration image,  the fabulous check masculine crombie with yellow highlight colour (bottom right) is a must, ill be purchasing ❤️ A great price and ok for a seasonal trend.

Calvin Klein

Separate styling with the nod to checks, simply invest in a blazer or a trouser and mix and match

Checks are great for neutral styling and to get out of the jean treadmill, smart trousers with slouchy over sized cashmere knits, sweater or sweatshirt, dress up or dress down, Great styling with trainers also, add some colour or wear with a penny loafer or embellished fun slip on.

Isabel Marant

Loafers are still the core shoe and its great to get out of those sliders that are impossible to keep on securely!! Lots of choice from essential, fun and coloured

The Isabel Marant jacket I missed out on and i am still pining for 😭

Zara grey trouser chino's withy side stripe

Smart to casual trousers in grey and checks, from top left Isabel Marant, Tibi, Zara, H&M

Dress down with a sweatshirt, chic dressing

When it comes to Cashmere prices vary, the quality can vary from cash ink to cashmere, very different fibres, M&S is pretty good, fun cols but their shapes can be quite limiting, Cos have some beautiful fashion silhouettes and for basics Uniqlo are always the best with price comparison for affordability.

ACNE keep it neutral and a pop of colour for fun...

Cashmere, Jcrew is always a saviour, Great if you are travelling across to the states as it is half the price than in the UK, H&M have some great fashion cashmere silhouettes for 80 pounds, Uniqlo, Reiss, M&S

EXPERIMENT WITH SOME FUN COLS for the season, but don't forget the essentials..........

Alternatively there is always the statement T that seems to be over taking the world , River island & whistles have some great pieces, H&M also or you can invest in Some great designer T's although how long they will be around is a ?? Also once you have worn it everyone has seen it so keep it disposable

Logo motif t shirts, swarming the high street, difficult to select, keep it simple

river island, whistles, Maison labiche & H&M have tonnes of choice

these t shirts work well with jeans day to day also......... have fun shopping..

Transition autumn winter 17

I am excited for the autumn season it's a season I love, wrapping up and layering adding novelty boots and embellishment

It seems too early to be talking about Autumn when summer has been so touch ad go, but after today's rainfall I have started to scour the stores to see the new season additions and pre fall transition in to winter is exciting ........

Stripes continue to be a transition essential although more novelty and colourful than the traditional French Bretons

Dennis the menace stripes add a rocky vibe to stripes, I am loving the baker boy hat styling which is already on the high street H&M through to designer Isabel Marant, and the bell boy jacket featured from Scotch & soda is sure to be a sell out for a trophy in between season Jacket.
